Enabling Virtual Reality (VR) on your site enables
the user to view a 360° scene or object (e.g. room, golf course, sculpture,
car or product). Using this immersive technology, the user is put in control
of how they move around the scene or move an object.
There are two types of VR that we create utilising our own state of the
art photographic equipment and VR software.
Panoramic
Virtual Reality: Using mouse movements, you can view a panoramic
image horizontally and vertically as well as zooming in and out. Examples: Living Room -
QTVR (153kb) or Java
Applet (105kb)
Object
Virtual Reality: Using mouse movements, you can manipulate an object
along any axis, tilting it to gain a view from any direction. Examples: Rotating WWII Gun - QTVR
(216kb) or JavaScript
(104kb)
Resulting VR images can be rendered on web pages using two methods:
QuickTime Virtual Reality (QTVR) (Description)
which gives somewhat better image rendering but requires the QuickTime
plug-in to be installed on the browser's computer.
Embedded Java Applet (Description)
or Embedded JavaScript (Description)
- Can be slower than QTVR but does not require any plug-in.
